Sony PXW-FX9 'Body only'
The FX9 uses a full-frame 6K Exmor R CMOS sensor, oversampling to deliver high-detail 4K output with shallow depth of field and cinematic feel.
It supports internal 10-bit 4:2:2 XAVC-I / XAVC-L recording, with dual XQD/CF express-style media slots and dual base-ISO (approximately ISO 800 / ISO 4000) for flexibility across varied lighting conditions.
The camera offers 15+ stops dynamic range, giving wide latitude for color grading, highlight recovery and detailed shadows.
For exposure control, it has an electronic variable ND filter (internal) — ideal for changing light conditions without altering exposure settings.
Recording formats/resolutions include UHD 4K (up to 60 fps) in full-frame/oversampled mode, and in cropped or S-35 mode, higher frame rates are available for HD or UHD workflows depending on lens and settings.
The body supports standard professional outputs: 12G-SDI / HDMI, genlock/timecode for multi-camera setups, and integrates well with professional rigs, accessories, and lens mounts (E-mount).
In sum: FX9 is a full-frame, flexible, high-dynamic-range, cinema-capable camera — suitable for narrative, commercial, documentary, music video and corporate productions where high resolution, cinematic depth-of-field and robust codec/ISO flexibility are required.
